Bioterra 2025: the leading organic fair in the Basque Country returns to Irún
From 6 to 8 June 2025, the Ficoba exhibition centre in the Gipuzkoan town of Irún will open its doors to host a new edition of Bioterra 2025, the most important organic fair in the Basque Country and one of the most established in Spain. Now in its 22nd edition, this flagship event will bring together more than 115 exhibiting companies from across the organic sector, with an ambitious programme that combines commercial exhibition, educational activities and participatory experiences focused on wellbeing, sustainability and environmental commitment.
For three days, Bioterra will become a meeting point for industry professionals, conscious consumers, people interested in adopting more mindful lifestyles and organisations actively working towards a greener future. This year’s edition is guided by an inspiring slogan: “Take a break and reconnect with what really matters”, an invitation to slow down and rediscover values such as holistic health, responsible consumption and harmony with the environment.
A space for genuine sustainability
Over the years, Bioterra has established itself as a benchmark for the green ecosystem in the Basque Country, standing out for its rigour and genuine commitment to sustainability. This is not a generic fair: the content and participating companies are carefully selected by a specialised technical committee that ensures all products and services meet real sustainability standards. In this way, Bioterra actively combats greenwashing and offers a trusted space where visitors can discover truly environmentally responsible initiatives.
The fair covers multiple sectors, from certified organic food to bio-construction, including renewable energy, natural cosmetics, sustainable fashion, responsible mobility and conscious tourism. This broad approach makes Bioterra both a showcase for organic products and a place for learning, inspiration and personal and collective transformation.
Activities for all audiences
In addition to the exhibition area, Bioterra 2025 will offer an extensive and diverse programme of activities featuring nearly 70 proposals, including hands-on workshops, talks, culinary demonstrations, showcookings, yoga sessions, motivational talks, professional meetings and, as a novelty this year, an outdoor Taichi session to start the day with body awareness and calm.
Highlighted activities include:
-
“Living without plastic”, with Patricia Reina and Fernando Gómez, sharing their experience after walking more than 5,000 km along the Iberian coast to highlight plastic pollution and showcase real zero-waste alternatives.
-
The documentary “Sintrópica, seeds of change”, directed by Miguel García Orive, presenting regenerative agriculture through agroecology and permaculture.
-
“Install your own photovoltaic panels”, a practical talk by Tristán Urtizberea for those interested in solar self-generation.
-
“Permaculture to transform your life project”, led by Max from Centro Mandala.
-
“Practical Feng Shui for your home”, with interior designer Lourdes Galarraga.
-
“Starting self-care from the basics”, a talk by Lorea Aguirre on digestive health and holistic wellbeing.
What’s new in the 2025 edition
One of the main highlights of this 22nd edition is the creation of a dedicated organic olive oil space, featuring products with protected designation of origin, guided tastings, technical talks and workshops on the nutritional and culinary properties of organic extra virgin olive oil.
Another innovation is the first edition of the Gazteak On Awards, a school competition aimed at encouraging critical thinking about sustainable food systems among secondary school students.
The Merka2dasoa second-hand bicycle market also returns, promoting reuse and sustainable mobility, with the new option to manage sales through an online platform.
