First Summit of Energy Communities in Spain
La primera Summit of Energy Communities in Spain, organized by the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) in collaboration with ComEnerSys, is scheduled for April 25-26 in El Prat de Llobregat. This event serves as a key platform to share experiences and knowledge among various energy communities across the country.
The main goal of this summit is to address a wide range of topics related to energy communities, from regulation and governance issues to the processing of specific projects.
More than ten discussion panels and workshops are planned to engage participants in deep and constructive discussions that will help strengthen this emerging sector in Spain’s energy transition.
The official opening will be led by Joan Groizard Payeras, Director General of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), a key figure in promoting renewable energy in Spain. José Donoso, Director General of UNEF, will also have a prominent role in the event.
This meeting will bring together a variety of energy sector stakeholders, including representatives from autonomous communities, research centers, and leading electricity companies in the country. The diversity of perspectives and experiences promises to enrich discussions and foster collaboration among Spain’s energy actors.
José Donoso emphasizes the importance of promoting the collaborative and sustainable model represented by energy communities. He highlights the need to strengthen regulation information and create spaces for experience exchange to advance this model.
After the conclusive event, a significant step will take place: the signing of the Manifesto of the First Summit of Energy Communities and Energy Self-Sufficiency. This manifesto will not only be a symbolic milestone but also carry a foundational intent, marking the beginning of a new era for energy communities. It is expected to result from continuous collaboration and dialogue among all participating energy communities.
The main purpose of this manifesto is to consolidate bonds among the various communities, creating a network of alliances that strengthens their collective position. It is intended as a dynamic and powerful tool that empowers energy communities to effectively defend their shared interests.
This signing process will not merely be a protocol act but will represent the joint commitment of all parties involved in building a more sustainable and equitable energy future. It will be a tangible testament to the spirit of collaboration and solidarity driving energy communities in Spain and beyond.
Additionally, the Manifesto of the First Summit of Energy Communities and Energy Self-Sufficiency will lay the groundwork for greater cooperation among communities and establish shared principles and values to guide future actions. From promoting citizen participation to advocating a decentralized and democratic energy model, this manifesto represents a collective commitment to a fairer and more sustainable energy future.
