In a world marked by mass consumption and resource waste, sustainability has become an urgent necessity. One of the greatest environmental challenges of our era is the short lifespan of consumer products, especially electronics and appliances. In this context, it is crucial to adopt circular economy models that give these products a second life instead of ending up in the trash.

Aware of this issue, LG Electronics has launched an innovative initiative in Spain called Life’s Good Education, with a dual purpose: promote youth employability in technical service sectors and foster a more responsible and sustainable consumption culture.

A project linking education, sustainability, and future careers

Life’s Good Education was created to address two key needs. On one hand, the growing difficulty of finding qualified appliance repair professionals. On the other, the urgency of training new generations with active environmental awareness.

The project consists of donating LG appliances to vocational training centers, allowing students to practice with real products, understand their internal functioning, learn to repair them, and extend their useful life. This approach not only provides practical exposure to the labor market but also turns students into protagonists of the shift toward circular consumption.

Escuelas San José: the first educational center to join

The program began strongly at Escuelas San José in Valencia, the first center to participate. In this first edition, over 120 students started working with real appliances donated by LG within the framework of intermediate and advanced vocational programs.

Upon completing the training, students will not only receive certification as official LG technicians but will also have the opportunity to undertake internships at LG Authorized Service Centers, significantly improving their chances of employment in a sector with increasing demand for specialized talent.

Technical training with values: the educational vision of the project

Paco Roca, Director of Vocational Programs at Escuelas San José, highlights the transformative value of this collaboration between business and education:

“This training not only updates technical content with cutting-edge technologies, but also helps shape individuals aware of the environmental impact of their actions. It is a clear example of how joint work between the educational and business sectors can build a stronger professional future aligned with the needs of the planet.”

A replicable model for centers across the country

Life’s Good Education represents a strategic alliance between sustainability, innovation, and employability. The short- and medium-term goal is to expand the program to more vocational training centers nationwide, aiming to train a new generation of technicians committed to the environment and prepared to face current and future labor challenges.

Initiatives like this exemplify the strategic role companies can and should play in strengthening technical education and actively promoting a transition to a more sustainable economic and social model. In this context, LG not only addresses an urgent labor market need—the shortage of trained technical service professionals—but also positions itself as a committed actor in environmental and social change.

Through Life’s Good Education, the company invests in training that goes beyond technical skills, integrating values such as resource reuse, practical learning with real impact, and commitment to communities and the environment. This educational approach not only prepares students for employment but forms them as conscious citizens, capable of understanding their role in building a future that balances development, technology, and sustainability. LG demonstrates that collaboration between the private sector and education can be a powerful tool to transform realities, create opportunities, and care for the planet simultaneously.
